The season of Advent is a time of preparation and anticipation. We prepare our lives to receive God: in the reality of the incarnation, in this present moment, and in the age to come. In our Advent series, we will explore how God comes into the lives of various people in the story, and we will prepare ourselves to encounter God in similar ways in our lives today. This week, we examined the story of the shepherds. What is happening in this story, and how can we prepare ourselves to encounter the extraordinary in our ordinary lives?

Kingdom Practices
This week, let’s make space each day to simply turn our attention to the reality of God’s presence at regular intervals throughout the day. We practiced this throughout the service. It doesn’t take long. Choose a reminder–whether it is a chime at the top of the hour, every time you walk into a room, or a handful of set times throughout the day–and in those moments bring your awareness to God’s presence with you.
